šŸ Decorating for Fall: Family Fun with a Disney Twist

There’s something so special about the change of seasons. My kids absolutely love when summer fades into fall—the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and all the warm, cozy colors. For us, decorating isn’t just about pumpkins and wreaths… it’s about creating family traditions and making our home feel magical.

šŸ‚ 1. A Pumpkin Patch Inside & Out

We love filling our mantle and entryway with pumpkins of every size—classic orange, soft white, and even glittery ones the kids help decorate. Outside, the first thing guests see is our layered welcome mat: a cute pumpkin doormat on top of a black-and-orange plaid mat for extra fall charm. Inside, we add a cozy touch to the living room with pumpkin pillow covers—a budget-friendly way to switch up dĆ©cor without storing bulky seasonal pillows.

šŸ•Æļø 2. Warm Autumn Glow

Candles and lanterns instantly make the house feel warm and inviting. We love grouping together fall-scented candles—like pumpkin spice, apple cider, and vanilla—and placing them in the kitchen and living room. We like to use a candle warmer to keep the smell fresh all day without the fear of there being an open flame especially around the children.

🧔 3. Cozy Corners for Fall

When the weather cools down, we make our living room extra inviting with soft orange throw blankets draped over the couch—perfect for chilly mornings or family movie nights. For a playful touch, the kids love adding pumpkin-themed stuffed animals, like a pumpkin spice latte Squishmallow. They double as cute decorations and snuggly companions, making our cozy corners festive and fun all season long.

🌼 4. Mums & Scarecrow Smiles

No fall porch is complete without bright, colorful mums. We love setting them in faux wooden planters—they give that rustic, farmhouse look without the upkeep of real wood. To make the porch extra cheerful, we tuck in a couple of cute little scarecrows beside the flowers. They add just the right touch of whimsy, and the kids love helping pick them out each year.

✨ 5. A Touch of Disney Magic

We can’t resist adding a little pixie dust to our fall dĆ©cor. The kids love helping make cute fall treats shaped like Mickey—like pumpkin cookies with Mickey cutouts. To carry the theme into our dĆ©cor, we add Mickey-shaped gel window clings featuring fall treats (think pumpkin pies and caramel apples) and a matching table runner sprinkled with Mickey-shaped goodies in autumn colors. It’s a playful way to blend our love of Disney with the cozy charm of fall. Plus, the kids love putting gel clings on the windows and it even counts as a fine motor building activity.

For us, decorating isn’t just about making the house look festive—it’s about making memories together. We always turn it into a family day, letting the kids pick their favorite pumpkins, arrange the scarecrows, or choose which Squishmallow gets a front-row seat on the couch. By the end of the day, the house feels cozy and full of fall spirit, and we’ve shared plenty of laughs along the way. It’s these little traditions that make the season so special for our family.
